Your Bio

Econosmith or Maxine Smith and John Economos as they are known as individually, is a wife and husband team, from the tip of Cape Cod in Provincetown, MA. Bringing very different perspectives on everything they shoot, from their differing equipment, goals, approaches and strengths. One technical, the other an artist, each constantly challenging and learning from the other. The end result are images that capture a little of the spirit and soul of their subjects.

Hudson River Sloop Clearwater : These are some of our thousands of photos taken at the Hudson River Sloop Revival. The access we get as official photographers for the event allow us to get shots that we would not otherwise get. Our committment to the Clearwater mission and passion for what we do motivate us to try and capture the true spirit of the Revival experience and not just document it. Pictures from Ptown : Provincetown, MA is one of our favorite places. The people and their spirit are what makes it so special. The ocean and light are a bonus. We don't shoot the typical sunsets and sunrises (actually we can't help but shoot them) but rather every day life. Through photos of every day scenes in town, from walks on the beach to some of the special events found in no other place we are trying (this is a work in process) to capture a little of the flavor of this wonderful place. For those of you who know Ptown you might notice our shots include spring, fall and winter but not many of the summer season. We find that the off season is when the local folks have a chance to slow down and breathe and it's when the Provincetown we enjoy the most shows through. Check back once in a while as we add new shots.

Peace Marches : We have been opposing this war since before it started. One of contributions to the efforts has been to participate in and document many rallys. We have tried to tell the story by capturing the feelings of the people. We offer our work to the many small goups of vocal activists who organize protests, publish websites and try to get the message out without any help from the mainstream media.
